Honors Day 2006

The tenth annual Andrew Young School of Policy Studies Honors Award Ceremony was held on Thursday, April 27, 2006, at the Georgia State University Student Center Ballroom. Over 280 honorees and their guests attended the event, which was coordinated by the Office of Academic Assistance.

A reception began the evening, offering students, guests and faculty the opportunity to socialize outside of the classroom.  After being seated, attendees enjoyed a performance by the University Singers. Dinner followed, and Dean Roy Bahl began the evening's proceedings.

Raul Alberto Ponce-Rodriguez, an economics doctoral student from Mexico, was the first student speaker. He shared his experiences as an international doctoral student, and is currently preparing his dissertation proposal. Barbara J. Williams, an MPA student in the PAUS department, spoke from the perspective of a student with significant career experience.

Associate Dean Robert Moore presented the honors; PAUS Chair Greg Streib congratulated the Public Administration and Urban Studies students; economics students received awards from Associate Professor Felix Rioja; and Dean Bahl offered the awards to the school's scholarship recipients.
