Honors Day 2005

The ninth annual Andrew Young School of Policy Studies Honors Award Ceremony was held on Thursday, April 14, 2005, at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel. Over 325 honorees and their loved ones attended the event, which was coordinated by the Office of Academic Assistance.

After a ballroom reception with fruit and cheese, attendees enjoyed music by the University Singers directed by Alan Raines. Dinner followed, then Dean Roy Bahl began the evening's proceedings. The Honorable Andrew Young then spoke to the group, encouraging the students to keep expanding their accomplishments.

Economics doctoral student Mercy Mvundura returned from Washington, D.C., to accept an award and speak at the ceremony. Her remarks were followed by new M.P.A. student Glenda D. Crunk.

Associate Dean Robert Moore presented the honors, sharing a short biography about each awardee. PAUS Chair Lloyd Nigro gave awards to the Public Administration and Urban Studies students; economics students received awards from Economics Chair James Alm; and Dean Bahl offered the awards to the school's scholarship winners.
