Honors Day 2004

The eighth annual Andrew Young School of Policy Studies Honors Award Ceremony was held on Tuesday, April 20, 2004.

A reception began the evening, offering students, guests and faculty the opportunity to socialize outside of the classroom. After being seated, attendees enjoyed a performance by the University Singers. Dinner followed, and Dean Roy Bahl began the evening's proceedings.

Whitney J. Rusert received The Wall Street Journal Student Achievement for being the outstanding graduating senior majoring in economics, selected by a committee of the faculty in the department.  

Master of Public Administration/Juris Doctor Academic Achievement Award presented to the student who has the highest grade point average for the academic year in the joint M.P.A./J.D. program.  Recipient: Steven R. Johnston.

After all the other awards were presented Economics students were inducted in to Omicron Delta Epsilon--the national honor society for students of economics. Selection is based on academic merit and requires a minimum number of economics credit hours. These students have been inducted into the Georgia State chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon.   
 
Pi Alpha Alpha is the national honor society for the field of public affairs and public administration. The society's purpose is to encourage and recognize outstanding scholarship and accomplishment, to promote the advancement of quality in the education and practice of the art and science of public affairs and administration, and to foster integrity, professionalism and effective performance in the conduct of government and related public service activities. Membership identifies those students with the highest performance levels in academic programs preparing them for public service careers. These students have been nominated for membership this year.   Forty students were inducted it this organization.
