Professor Gregory Lewis is named a National Academy fellow

Gregory B. Lewis, a professor of public management and policy in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University, has been elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA).

Chartered by Congress, NAPA is an independent, nonprofit coalition of top public management and organizational leaders working to improve the quality, performance and accountability of government.

As a member of this prestigious fellowship, Lewis joins a highly experienced body of policy experts from a diverse array of practice areas. NAPA Fellows are tapped by the organization to participate in critical and challenging public-sector policy projects that see them analyzing, evaluating and formulating policy solutions to many of the nation’s biggest problems. In the words of James Webb, a former NASA administrator and principal founder of the National Academy, “Our society has reached a point where its progress and even its survival depend on our ability to organize the complex and to do the unusual.”

Lewis says he is excited about being able to tap into the fellowship network to further his scholarship goals. He believes his NAPA membership will be invaluable to advancing his research into the federal government’s treatment of race, gender and sexual orientation.

“This invitation is a well-deserved reward for Greg’s many years of research” says Professor Harvey Newman, chair of the Department of Public Management and Policy.
