Quantitative Analysis

Johnson's interests and expertise are in two areas: labor economics and nonprofit studies. In both cases she brings to the table highly honed statistical skills. Johnson's work in labor economics and human resource management has included employee compensation and benefits (including organizational design, base pay plans, performance appraisal, and incentive programs), as well as statistical analyses of pay equity, equal employment opportunity, and wrongful discharge. Her interests in nonprofit studies include the determinants of philanthropy, homelessness and poverty, human capital utilization in nonprofits (including pay determination and volunteer management) and faith-based nonprofit organizations.

Johnson has published articles in such journals as Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, Personnel Journal, and Journal of Political Economy. Her research has been sponsored by such organizations as The Metro Atlanta Tri-Jurisdictional Collaborative on Homelessness, The Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She has been a consultant to many human resource departments, many of these public or nonprofit agencies.
