Harvey Newman is a Professor in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Georgia State University. He has an extensive academic and professional background in nonprofit organizations. Professor Newman holds a masters degree from Duke University and Ph.D. from Emory University.

Dr. Newman developed the first nonprofit management program at Georgia State in 1975, with a grant from the Kellogg Foundation, and has continued his involvement with the program since that time. His publications include articles on the role of faith-based organizations in the urban environment. Professor Newman has been a long-time board member for several nonprofit groups and a frequent speaker in a variety of settings, including the Executive Leadership Program for Nonprofit Organizations. He serves as Director of Educational Programs for the Nonprofit Studies Program and teaches the Introduction to the Nonprofit Sector.
