ECON 8150: Monetary Economics and PolicyThis course introduces the student to monetary theory and the institutions and policy through which monetary phenomena influence national economic performance. The brand of monetary theory developed is based on a simple intergenerational model with foundations planted in the microeconomic theory of choice (on the / Andrew Young School of Policy Studies demand for money side). Monetary macroeconomics and open economy macroeconomics are treated extensively to recognize the importance of international economic phenomena and foreign sector policy as influences on the outcomes of domestic monetary policy actions.
