ECON 8680: Advanced Economic History

An analysis of the emergence of the United States from status as an underdeveloped area to that of a high-mass consumption economy in the 20th century. Special attention will be given to the interaction of capital formation, technology, entrepreneurship, and public policy in influencing this evolution. Changes in national income and its distribution will be assessed; the changing position of the United States in the world economy will be evaluated. (3 credit hours)

Prerequisites: Econ 2105 and Econ 2106.
