ECON 8860: Economics of Global FinanceThe goal of this class is to develop analytical skills and intuition needed to assess the economic developments in foreign countries. Our attention will focus on exchange rates as exchange rates reflect the dynamics of inflation, output, banking, and trade in the context of world economic and political developments. As the recent series of financial crises shows, business in any foreign country will require such an analysis beforehand. The course develops an open economy macro model showing balance of payments equilibrium, and assesses policies to deal with imbalances. It examines the impact of international capital flows.(3 credit hours) Prerequisites: Econ 2105 and Econ 2106. SyllabiSee the AYSPS Course Syllabi List.
