PAUS 3411: Contemporary PlanningThis course provides a basic overview of contemporary urban planning, as well as brief treatment of private sector and non-profit planning. Topics include the history of urban planning, the advantages and drawbacks of different approaches to planning and citizen involvement, the legal and administrative context of planning, as well as issues in land use, growth management, transportation, environmental and economic development planning. Students interested in contemporary land use, social welfare, environmental, transportation and development issues in the Atlanta area will find this course useful for developing more specialized knowledge of these topics, as well as an excellent general background for those wishing to contribute to improved quality of life in their communities.
