PAUS 4031: Evaluating Public PolicyDoes gender, religion, or education have more impact on people's attitudes toward premarital sex, abortion, and spending on urban problems? Do women still earn less than men even when they are of the same race and have as much education and work experience? When can we confidently use sample data to answer these and other questions for the American population? Learn how to use survey data to impress friends and employers. This course focuses on quantitative research methods applicable to the study of public policy. Students will learn how to develop and test empirical hypotheses using techniques such as contingency table analysis, inferential statistics, and regression analysis.
