PAUS 8131: Applied Research Methods and Statistics IIBuilding on skills learned in PAUS 8121, this course focuses on the use of more advanced research methods and statistics in analyzing public programs, policy issues, and public and nonprofit managerial issues. Topics include experimental and quasi-experimental designs, survey research, sampling strategies and intermediate statistical techniques including analysis of variance, correlation and regression, and time series analysis. Problem solving exercises involving data analysis and interpretation using a Windows based version of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) will be emphasized throughout the course. In addition, students will complete their own analytical projects, from problem formulation through the preparation of a brief report, as a major requirement for the course.
