PAUS 8141: Microeconomics for Public PolicyOver the last several years, policy analysis has come to rely heavily on the analytic power of microeconomics. The principal goal of this course is to teach students the process of microeconomic reasoning and how to apply that reasoning to policy issues in the real world. After completing this course, students should be able producers of simple economic policy analysis, but just as importantly, informed consumers of fairly sophisticated economic policy research. The course covers the basic topics in microeconomic theory; as well, several of the lectures will be devoted to general policy discussions that microeconomics is well-equipped to inform.
