PAUS 8201: International NGOsThis course studies development and relief NGOs in poor countries. The course begins with an overview of the state of the world economy and strategies for economic growth. It then turns to such topics as: the role of NGOs in economic development and the formation of social capital, particularly within the context of globalization and democratization; relationships between NGOs, businesses, and national and international public agencies; and the challenges in accountability, advocacy, management and leadership. The course can be used as an elective for students for students specializing in nonprofit and civic leadership within the M.S. in Urban Policy Studies Degree or specializing in nonprofit management within the M.P.A.
