School.
The Department of Economics has won national
acclaim for its insightful research into practical economic topics. Its
concentrations in environmental and labor economics, urban and regional
economics, and public finance are setting new academic standards in programs
of study that combine solid research with practical policy education.
The department features such innovative research tools as the Experimental
Economics Laboratory and maintains a strong multi-disciplinary approach
to policy analysis. Bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. degrees are offered
by the department of 31 full-time faculty members.
The Department of Public Administration
and Urban Studies, ideally positioned for collaborative and interdisciplinary
enrichment through its affiliation with the other research components
in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, offers the bachelor of science
and master's degrees in urban studies as well as a master's in public
administration. A program is also in place with university's School of
Law, giving students the opportunity to pursue a joint master of public
administration/juris doctor degree to meet the growing demand for lawyers
with expertise in public management.
The most recent degree program addition to the Andrew Young School of
Policy Studies is a joint Ph.D. in public policy. This program, offered
jointly with the School of Public Policy at Georgia Tech, combines the
considerable intellectual strengths of the two universities.
