Outreach is an essential part of the mission of the Andrew Young
School. Faculty, research associates and graduate students were heavily
involved in Georgia and in the Atlanta region, in all manner of ways.
We developed and implemented training programs, carried out applied research
projects, spoke at public and private meetings, worked directly with government
officials in evaluation of policy options, and served on boards of non-profit
agencies. We tried to help make better policy in our state, and believed
we added value in many areas. The following listing shows the very great
breadth of our state and community service.

development of the General Assembly's Long-Term Care Study Commission's
"Final Report and Recommendations." They wrote and staffed consensus
approval of the Report's final content and recommendations (January
1999 - July 1999).

consulted with the Business, Education and Technology Alliance (BETA)
in Savannah on contractor management and other reform measures for public
schools and addressed the community's leaders on the issue at a workshop

consulted with citizen groups regarding MARTA expansion in the Northlake

wrote and appeared as a panel expert on Schools for Sale,
