The Andrew Young School works in collaboration with other Universities
in the State of Georgia. These joint efforts span teaching, research and
outreach.
Georgia State University
and the Georgia Institute of Technology offer a joint Ph.D. in Public Policy. The doctoral curriculum utilizes the strengths and faculty expertise of the two institutions. The Department of Economics
and Morehouse College have an ongoing joint program of Economic Studies Abroad in South Africa, including South Africa's Evolving Political Economy. It is designed to give students a broad understanding of the workings of the South African economy, its infrastructure, environment and governance. The 2006 trip took place during the Maymester course with students from Georgia State, Morehouse, and Spelman College.
Carolyn Bourdeaux
served on the Economic Development Comprehensive Exam Committee for the Joint Ph.D. with Georgia Institute of Technology.
James C. Cox
recruited 12 affiliated faculty for the Experimental Economics Center from Emory University, Emory School of Medicine, Georgia Institute of Technology, Kennesaw State University, Agnes Scott University and the Federal Reserve Bank.
presented a two-day economic dissemination workshop for 28 faculty from Georgia colleges and universities to participate in the EconPort Digital Library teaching modules, June 6-7, 2006. The workshop provided opportunities to experience active learning in the use of experimental economics for the purpose of strengthening undergraduate and graduate economics classes.
Paul J. Ferraro
collaborated on National Science Foundation grant proposal to host, at Georgia State and the University of Georgia, an Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship that focuses on the ecology and economics of hydrological services.
