Outreach is an essential part of the mission of the Andrew Young
School. Faculty, research associates and graduate students were heavily
involved in Georgia and in the Atlanta region, in all manner of ways.
We developed and implemented training programs, carried out applied research
projects, spoke at public and private meetings, worked directly with government
officials in evaluation of policy options, and served on boards of nonprofit
agencies. We tried to help make better policy in our state, and believe
we added value in many areas. The following listing shows the very great
breadth of our state and community service. See also the more detailed

Health Policy Center and the Public Performance and Management Group.
Georgia Health Policy Center
participated in the Legislative Biennial, an event held every other year to orient legislators, particularly freshmen legislators, to issues and process. The Center contributed information on seven health tracks featured at the three-day event.
Public Performance and Management Group
hosted “Strategic Management Using the Balanced Scorecard,” held at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies on October 23, 2006. The conference was co-sponsored by the Balanced Scorecard Institute.
James Alm

The Beltline Tax Allocation District is a proposed system of parks and trails, neighborhood preservation and revitalization, and mixed-use development, featuring benefits of affordable housing, cleaner air, and an improved tax base.

He discussed the new Experimental Economic Center’s mission in research, teaching, and policy applications involving the use of controlled economic experiments with human decision makers, and introduced the EconPort Digital Library, a component of the National Science Foundation’s Digital Science Library, for the purpose of providing opportunities via the Internet to train professors in the use of experimental economics to strengthen undergraduate and graduate Economics classes. The Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar’s Program has the mission of recruiting renowned world scientists to lead extraordinary programs of research and development that will contribute to a high potential economic development impact for the state.
