Policy Studies in Europe

Make Europe your classroom for Maymester 2018! We visit France, Germany, the Czech Republic & Great Britain to learn about the European Union and its governing institutions and policy innovations. We examine the economies of these countries, the business climate, quality of life, immigration issues, and social progress. Our visits include government institutions, typically the EU and German parliaments and more; companies such as Deutsche Bahn; and historical and cultural sites that include Westminster Abbey, the German Historical Museum, and Buckingham Palace. We also tour and explore some of the world’s most interesting cities and experience different ways of life by using transit, biking and walking. Students do experience Europe, but we do not focus on European highlights. We visit some of the most dynamic areas of Europe that draw young people, create new ideas and develop new technologies, and that tackle age-old social problems in creative new ways—east vs. west and historical vs. modern.
