ATLANTA – Dr. Mary Corcoran, professor of political science, public
policy, social work, and women’s studies at the University of Michigan,
will present Childhood Poverty and Race: Causes, Costs and Consequences
as the next lecture in this year’s Child Policy Speaker Series.
The series is sponsored by the Child Policy Initiative.
Dr. Corcoran will focus on the impact of childhood poverty and racial
differences on economic opportunities in adult life. She will also pay
particular attention to policies that diminish the effects of childhood
poverty on child development and adult outcomes.
The program is scheduled for Monday, March 29, 2004, at 3:30 p.m. at
229 Aderhold Learning Center, located at 60 Luckie Street in downtown
Atlanta.
Located in the Georgia Health Policy Center of the Andrew Young School
of Policy Studies, the Child Policy Initiative works to improve the quality
of child policy in Georgia through the skillful application of current
research and analysis.
