Personal Property Tax on Motor Vehicles (Laura Wheeler, John Matthews and David L. Sjoquist).  Georgia imposes a personal property tax on motor vehicles. The tax that is paid is based on 40 percent of the value of the vehicle and property tax millage rate levied within the jurisdiction in which the vehicle resides.  FRC Brief 130 (July 2006)
