Michael J. Rushton - Indiana University
Michael J. Rushton accepted a position at Indiana University in the Arts Admininstration program in 2006. Previously, he was Associate Professor at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies of Georgia State University. His primary research area is cultural economics and policy. He has published widely in cultural policy and economics, with articles on such topics as public funding for the arts, copyright, other legal rights of artists, freedom of expression, and the role of nonprofit arts organizations. Recent articles have looked at the use of earmarked taxes for the arts in US cities, and a referendum on arts funding held in Metro Detroit. His current projects include an analysis of the relationship between artists and urban economic growth, and the use of economic analysis in arts advocacy. In 2006 he became co-editor of the Journal of Cultural Economics, after serving as its book review editor for a number of years.
