Mary Ann Phillips - Senior Research Associate

Mary Ann has been with the Center since its inception in 1995 and has worked on a number of projects, including conducting research for the implementation of health insurance market reforms and health plan purchasing cooperatives in Georgia; managing a statewide effort to obtain provider and consumer input for reforming the state Medicaid system; and assisting with the development of Georgia's children's health insurance program, PeachCare for Kids.

She coordinates the activities of the Philanthropic Collaborative for a Healthy Georgia, a group of Georgia philanthropic and corporate foundation communities that have joined forces to enhance the ability of foundations to identify, fund, and evaluate health grant-making opportunities throughout the state. The Center serves as the administrative and technical home for the Collaborative. Phillips has coordinated four projects for the Collaborative: two matching grants programs related to school health and rural health; a cancer prevention and control initiative; and, an effort to address the problem of Georgia’s overweight children. In addition to the Philanthropic Collaborative’s initiatives, Phillips has coordinated two other grant programs for Georgia’s Department of Community Health. These grants involved working with community-based organizations to improve outreach to, and enhance appropriate utilization of, PeachCare and Medicaid services.

Before joining the Center, Mary Ann worked for the Governor's Commission on Health Care, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Health Planning Branch of the U.S. Public Health Service.
