Dora provides technical assistance, training and facilitation that support communities in improving their access to health care and their health status. Her relationships with communities emphasize strengthening communities’ ability to analyze their social conditions critically and to address those problems strategically. Her areas of special interest include community-based evaluation, participatory techniques and lay health worker programming.
Prior to joining the Center in 2004, Dora provided both program leadership and technical advice to rural community health programming in developing countries in both Latin America and southern Africa with CARE, the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army World Service Office. Her work included design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems; local health systems strengthening; health staff training and supervision; and health education strategy and materials design.
