As we work to create a life-sustaining world, how can we better see interdependencies, test our thinking, and share our insights with others?   Using exercises, cartoons and extensive “clinicing” of participant diagrams on their own topics, this workshop will introduce the basics of systems thinking and then provide opportunities for hands-on practice, coaching and learning.  This highly interactive workshop will introduce learners to the systems thinking perspective but focus more directly on building capacity in systems tools such as causal diagramming and system dynamics simulation modeling.

This is the third annual offering of this workshop in Atlanta.  Past participants have represented government, non-profit, education, and business sectors.  Topic areas will span environmental, public health, social and economic issues facing long term viability of a life-sustaining world.

Approximately ¼ of the workshop will happen with pairs of participants working on laptop computers building a system dynamics model in Stella/ithink software.   If you can bring a laptop to the training, please indicate that on your registration form.

Note that the Sustainability Institute offers other workshops that focus more on the systems perspective and its application and focus less on the tools.  While it does not require any special mathematics or other training, this is the more “tool-oriented” of our workshops.
