Safia Shabbir is a Fulbright scholar, holding an Master of Arts in Economics from Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan. She began the doctoral program in the fall of 2007 in Economics at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. Prior to joining the doctoral program, she was working as an economic analyst in the research department of the Central Bank of Pakistan. Her responsibilities included tracking and writing reviews on fiscal developments of Pakistan's economy, in the areas of privatization process, tax policy and administration reforms, fiscal federalism, and performance of public sector enterprise for the Central Bank's annual and quarterly reports. In addition, she has taught various courses in economics at Mamoona Postgraduate College and Govt. Degree College, Multan, Pakistan for three years. She also served as a visiting instructor at the Directorate of Customs, Training & Research in Karachi- Pakistan for almost two years. Her research interests include public finance and fiscal policy.
