Andrew Young School of Policy Studies

Dean

Georgia State University, an urban comprehensive research and teaching university with 28,000 students, is seeking nominations and applications for the Dean of the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies.  Established in 1996, the Andrew Young School’s two academic departments (Economics and Public Management and Policy) employ 58 full-time faculty and serve 765 highly diverse graduate students and undergraduate majors – one-fifth are foreign nationals from over 40 countries and two-fifths are U.S. minorities.  The School offers two doctorates (in Economics and Public Policy), three master’s degrees (in Economics, Public Administration, and Public Policy), and three undergraduate degrees (in Economics, International Economics and Modern Languages, and Public Policy).  Academic entrepreneurs have created several research centers, which employ 39 research associates in addition to the affiliated faculty.  Centers work closely with governments and non-profit organizations in Georgia and throughout the world to provide training and to analyze a wide variety of policy issues.  Examples include fiscal decentralization in developing countries, state tax and expenditure policy, rural health delivery, nonprofit capacity, and child policy.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and administrative abilities
