Woods Bowman - Visiting Professor
Woods Bowman, Professor of Public Service at DePaul University, will be a Visiting Scholar in the Nonprofit Studies Program for the Fall semester, 2009. Professor Bowman has an MPA and a PhD in Economics from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. Early in his career he worked as a research economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. His distinguished public service has included fourteen years as an elected member of the Ilinois House of Representatives, and four years as Chief Financial Officer for Cook County in Chicago.
Professor Bowman’s research interests include nonprofit finance and financial health, the value of volunteer time, and the relationship between confidence in charitable organizations and volunteering. He is the Ethics columnist for Nonprofit Quarterly. Professor Bowman will be teaching the course, PAUS 8262: Nonprofit Financial Management. He will also be collaborating with other NSP researchers on joint research, and will present a seminar on some of his research in October.
