Application Deadline

The PhD program in Criminal Justice only accepts applications for the fall term. The deadline is February 15 of each year.

Application Fee

A nonrefundable application fee of $50 is required for each application submitted. Applicants can pay by credit card online.

Only applications completed by the Feb. 15 deadline will be reviewed for admission.

Application Requirements

A completed application includes:

  1. A submitted online application.
  2. Payment of the $50 application fee online.
  3. Two copies of official academic transcripts, in sealed envelopes, from each post secondary institution attended regardless of where your final degree(s) were received. Transcripts are required from each institution you attended, regardless of the length of time you attended, your status, or whether the grades are listed on another institution's transcript. This would include community colleges, study abroad programs and AP credit. If you received college level credit, a transcript should be submitted for review.
  4. Statement of Professional and Academic Goals of two to three pages in length. You should include your fields of interest and how the program will contribute to your goals. Please include your name and social security number, if available, on this document.  
  5. Academic Paper. The paper should be a single-authored work that demonstrates the applicant's writing ability. Examples include a chapter from the applicant's thesis or a paper written for course credit. In general, the paper submitted should not be longer than 35 double-spaced pages. 
  6. Three letters of recommendation submitted through the online application.
  7. Official scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
  8. International applicants may also be required to submit official scores on the TOEFL and Georgia State University's International Applicant Immigration Form.
