Career Development

As a student in public policy, public administration or urban studies, earning a degree is simply not enough to secure your ideal job (whether it is your first job or career advancement).  Successful candidates in today’s job market need to be intentional in their career pursuits – and developing a plan to arrive at a career that is fulfilling, challenging, and financially beneficial is critical.

Here are some resources we encourage you to pursue when developing your career plan:

  • Career Development Timelines – roadmaps created for undergraduate and graduate PMAP students which make suggestions on when to work on your resume, when to practice interviewing, when to search for your internships, and when to develop your job search plan.
  • Career Guidance & Counseling – outlines resources available to help you decide on your future job interests.
  • Panther Career Net – registration information to participate in on-campus interviewing
  • Workshops – describes all of the career development and job search workshops available for PMAP students and alumni
  • Career Library – a list of career and job search books available for checkout from the PMAP department
  • Events Calendar – a current listing of career events sponsored by the PMAP department
