PMAP Leadership & Research Opportunities

Urban Fellows Program

The Urban Fellows Program is an initiative of the Center for the Comparative Study of Metropolitan Growth and is housed in Georgia State’s College of Law.  Top graduate students from across the university are selected to participate in a monthly breakfast series with top decision makers in Atlanta and the region whose work and actions have a direct impact upon our physical and built environment - from Governors and state Commissioners to County Commission Chairs, School Superintendents, business leaders and directors of community action groups.  Additionally, the Center sponsors regular speakers and academic symposia on issues related to urban affairs, all of which are open to Fellows.  Finally, under the guidance of various Faculty Affiliates associated with the Program, Fellows develop a publishable quality paper on a topic of interest to them.  Notable student research is made available online to law and policy makers in Georgia and elsewhere.

Research Experiences for PMAP Undergraduates (REU) Summer Policy Research Internships

Offered by the Department of Economics at the Georgia State University's Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, the summer policy internship is a seven-week learning program for undergraduate students entering their senior year. Interns work with faculty members on policy research projects in the school's research centers.  Internships are available for a select number of students who have demonstrated overall academic achievement, as well as an interest in an area of public policy. Areas of study include environmental economics, international economics, state and local governance, public financial management, education and education reform, health care, and many other topics vital to a functioning society.  For more information visit the Summer Policy Research Internship website.
