Public Opinion on Gay Rights Before joining Georgia State, Lewis taught for 15 years at the University
of Georgia and American University. He is known primarily for his research
on career patterns in the federal civil service, and has written papers
on sex and race differences in salaries, promotion rates, turnover rates,
performance ratings and occupations and how those differences have changed
over time. More recently, he has studied the history of federal policy
toward gay and lesbian employees of federal agencies and defense contractors;
patterns of state and local laws prohibiting discrimination on the basis
of sexual orientation; and public opinion on gay rights issues, especially
on employment of gay and lesbian teachers.
Lewis' work has been published in the Review of Public Personnel Administration,
Journal of Human Resources, American Politics Quarterly,
Public Administration Review, Public Administration Quarterly, and Industrial and Labor Relations Review. He serves on the editorial
boards of American Review of Public Administration and Journal
of Public Administration Research and Theory. |
