Assistant Professor Louis Perrault’s primary research interests are public finance and optimal taxation. Recent work has focused on the long-term effects of income taxation and their implications on fiscal policy.
Prior to joining the Department of Economics, Perrault earned a Ph.D. from Queen’s University at Kingston. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in economics from the University of Montreal. During his graduate studies, he also worked as an economist for the Competition Bureau, Canada’s antitrust agency. In his position at the bureau, he analyzed the likely impacts of complex mergers, anticompetitive practices and alleged criminal conducts.
