As part of the Digital Landscape Initiative, AYS Open will substantially increase free access to our scholarly products. Research shows that will increase our impact, in both academia (e.g., measured by citations, downloads) and in the real world (e.g., use by policymakers, practitioners, and the public). In that sense, our move to open access is a win-win. Yet the change raises questions, from “How will this affect where I publish?” (answer: It won’t) to “What is the global status of open access?”
The meeting is an opportunity to learn, consider, and discuss the path ahead. I’ll begin by describing AYS Open’s tentative plans and broad goals. This will be followed by Heather Joseph, Executive Director of SPARC, sharing her knowledge of and insights on open access. We will conclude by discussing what “this” all means for AYS, in the short- and long-term.
Questions and comments are welcome throughout the meeting, but also before and after. I hope to see you there. If you will, please fill out the form below to reserve your spot.
