The Program

The joint Georgia State University and Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) exchange program is designed to create an awareness of comparative economics as well as international policy and practices while preparing graduate students to function in an increasingly global environment. Through this semester-long exchange, graduate students in the field of Economics will gain an awareness of international policy and practice, the tools necessary for work within foreign cultures, and the managerial skills needed to function effectively in a global setting. http://www.hec.unil.ch/hec/home

HEC Lausanne is located on the shore of the Lake Geneva, a center for European industry, banking and research. Lausanne is the fifth largest city in Switzerland. HEC Lausanne collaborates with the Swiss Finance Institute and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL – Management of Technology program), which are also based on the Lausanne campus.
Eligibility

The program is open to graduate students of the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies who are in the Masters of Economics Program. Program size is limited and participation is contingent upon acceptance by the program director.

Courses and Credit
Students will earn up to 12 credit hours which can be applied to the elective requirements (not the core coursework) of their MAE or MAE-Policy Track degree. Courses will transfer to GSU pass/fail.

Program Cost
Students will be responsible for expenses related to airfare, housing, meals, visas, and insurance. Students are responsible for Georgia State tuition and fees. Non-resident/out-of-state students will pay in-state tuition plus a $250 fee in addition to the cost to the program.

Students are responsible for the payment of their travel, accommodation, and food expenses while abroad.

Financial aid is available to help fund this study abroad program. Students are highly encouraged to apply for the Georgia State University International Education Fee (IEF) Study Abroad Scholarship Program. Students wishing to apply must complete the program application on the GSU Study Abroad website.

Responsibility & Liability

Participants in the program must have proof of current health and accident insurance that is valid abroad. Students must also submit any health documentation required by HEC Laussanne or by Switzerland. Students are also required to meet any Swiss Visa requirements.

Students will be required to sign a Waiver of Liability/Indemnification Form in order to participate in the exchange program.
