Omar, Meera
Meera Omar is a PhD student in Public Policy, majoring in Public Finance and minoring in Policy Analysis and Program Evaluation. She earned her bachelor’s degree (BSc Honors) in Economics at Lahore University of Management Sciences in Pakistan, and joined Georgia State University in 2019 for her Master’s in Public Policy (MPP) where she has continued for her PhD. She previously worked as a development practitioner in water governance and climate finance with bilateral and multilateral agencies such as Asian Development Bank, World Bank and USAID.
Her research interest lies at the intersection of public financial management and policy, and equity, with an international comparative focus. Her current research is centered around fiscal competition in infrastructure and transportation finance. She currently works as a Public Finance Fellow at the Center for State and Local Finance (CSLF) and the Fiscal Research Center (FRC). She has also worked on international fiscal research projects as part of the International Center of Economic Policy (ICePP) and is an inaugural member of the Infrastructure Finance & Policy Lab (iFPL), which aims for sustainable and equitable development of infrastructure across the world.
