Lauren Hoehn-Velasco is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Georgia State University and Research Fellow at IZA.
Dr. Hoehn-Velasco specializes in the areas of public economics, health economics, and demographic economics. Her published projects focus on public health programs and regulations. She has studied several broad areas of public health, including historical public health departments, scope of practice regulations, abortion legislation, cigarette taxes, and COVID-19 stay-at-home orders. Dr. Hoehn-Velasco’s research has been published in leading economics journals, including The Economic Journal, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, Journal of Health Economics, and Journal of Human Resources.
Before joining Georgia State University, Dr. Hoehn-Velasco was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Bryn Mawr College. She received her Ph.D. in economics from Boston College and a B.S. in mathematics and economics from Michigan State University.
