Liz Gallaspy
Training Specialist Professional Excellence Program, School of Social Work- Biography
Liz is a social worker with over three decades of experience in child welfare and acute inpatient psychiatric treatment. She is a Training Specialist who provides training for the Child Welfare Training Collaborative and is the lead staff member for the Training for Adoption Competency Program (TAC). She is a Trust Based Relational Practitioner (TBRI) and a member of the Association of Social Work Board Practice Analysis Task Force (ASWB).
She received her MSW from the University of Michigan and her bachelor’s degree in social work from Mississippi Valley State University. She has extensive experience in child welfare, therapeutic foster care, kinship care, and adoption. She is a subject matter expert in adoptions. For several years, her adoption and foster care agency was geared towards special needs adoptions, older children, and siblings. Currently, she applies her expertise to ensure the utilization of trauma-informed treatment modalities not only as an instructional coordinator but also at an inpatient psychiatric dual diagnosis facility. She continues to offer family sessions, individual sessions, process groups, and substance abuse interventions. She is now in private practice, utilizing her years of experience with evidence-based treatment modalities.
In her spare time, Liz enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is an avid cook and often hosts them, and she enjoys making classic Southern dishes passed down from her mother. Liz now embarks on traveling more with her close-knit group of friends and family while also hanging out with her young adult sons.
