Ron Shelby
Assistant Director, Executive Education Center for State and Local Finance- Biography
Ron Shelby is the assistant director of executive education at the Center for State and Local Finance. He previously served as director of finance and administration, budget officer and investment officer for Galveston County, Texas where he worked for more than 13 years. Prior to that, he was an operations auditor, stock broker, floor trader in the wheat pits at the Chicago Board of Trade, and a Grain Merchant for Cargill. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate, on an Andrew Young Fellowship at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies with a concentration in public budgeting and finance. He received his associate’s degree in accounting from Galveston College, bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford University, and both a master’s degree in finance and an MBA with a concentration in human resources management from the University of Houston Clear Lake.
