Serena Phillips
Data Scientist Department of Economics- Biography
Serena Phillips is a Data Scientist in the Department of Economics at Georgia State University, supporting the health policy research portfolio of Dr. Michael Pesko. She has over 10 years of experience working in healthcare, data, and research positions. Prior to arriving at GSU in 2019, she coordinated and managed data for several health equity projects at the George Washington University Cancer Center. She has also served patients as a registered nurse at NYU Langone Medical Center and patient navigator based out of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She brings a broad multi-disciplinary perspective to her research, with particular expertise in data management, program evaluation, social science research in public health, oncology patient navigation, and ethnic studies. She received her DrPH in Health Behavior from The George Washington University, Master’s degree in Public Health from Columbia University, and Bachelor’s in Nursing from New York University.
