Since Fall 2023, applicants to our online BSW program option can live outside of the state of Georgia while completing BSW courses.
GSU has the only online Advanced Standing Master’s of Social Work Program in Georgia.
GSU MSW Program is the only MSW program in the U.S. with a Community Partnership specialization.
U.S. News & World Report ranks the Andrew Young Schools’ Social Work program No. 51 in the nation.
Students can choose either Full-time in-person or Part-time Online MSW Program. Those with a BSW degree can choose between In-person or Online Advanced Standing MSW Program.

Maritza Vasquez Reyes has joined Georgia State University’s School of Social Work as an assistant professor. She grounds her teaching, service, and research in 12 years of direct social work practice.
Her interdisciplinary research impacts public health and well-being, and she is particularly interested in understanding community support available to youth facing oppression.
M.S.W. ’24 alum Caitlin first saw the call to apply for a prestigious U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) fellowship on a listserv sent to students in the School of Social Work. She wasn’t sure she was qualified, but Associate Professor Susan M. Snyder suggested she apply.
News
Graduate students at the School of Social Work are working to honor and memorialize Fulton County’s 35 known victims of lynching. As they engage the public about the ongoing struggle for racial justice, they hope to inspire changes to policy that will help resolve some of today’s most pressing issues.
This program helped me master and understand the interconnectedness and importance of developing partnerships needed to meet the needs of those we serve.”
